What a week to start blogging about healthcare reform and the health insurance industry in North Carolina. As a sit here and type, our wonderful leaders (insert sarcasm here) in our nation’s House of Representatives are desperately trying to gather the necessary votes to pass a healthcare reform bill that will do more harm than good for the future of our healthcare industry. I’m fully aware that this is merely “my opinion” and there is a lot to debate on the matter, but I want to be clear on the facts as well as my perspective. I’ve been a North Carolinian my entire life and I live in the beautiful village of Clemmons with my wife and four children. I have been in the insurance industry for over 19 years and I have been directly focused on selling and servicing health insurance in North Carolina for 14 of those years. My main concern about doing the “wrong thing” with healthcare comes from being a father and a citizen. Of course I also have a unique perspective that comes from my experience in the health insurance industry. As I write future blogs on healthcare reform and the health insurance industry in North Carolina, I will attempt to shed some light on everything – the good, the bad and the ugly. I will continue to keep a sharp eye on how this all unfolds over the next few days, weeks and months and I will write about it here. I will also attempt to write about what all of this actually means to the people of North Carolina. Thanks for reading, now back to work.
